The Government of Sri Lanka has introduced a free tourist visa facility (Electronic Travel Authorization-ETA) for nationals of 40 selected countries with effect from 25th May 2026, permitting a stay of upto 30 days. This timely initiative is expected to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s efforts to stimulate inbound tourism amidst evolving global challenges, while enhancing the country’s competitiveness as a preferred travel destination within the regional and international tourism landscape.

Sri Lanka has introduced a free Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for tourists from 40 countries, effective from 25 May 2026. Eligible travelers can now obtain a 30-day tourist visa free of charge with a double-entry facility.
All travelers, including those eligible for the free visa scheme, are still required to obtain an ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka.
